In accordance with its history and its origin, the Order of the Byzantine Knights of the Holy
Sepulchre sees itself as a Christian order of knights. The ideal of knighthood, in which European
tradition and Christian religion were combined to a higher unit has become the constitutive idea
of European intellectuality and has formed both our European moral concepts until today as well
as our attitude towards the world in general.

In a world visibly losing its order, we more than ever need a recollection, and especially a renewal
of the occidental original ideals if we do not want to lose our identity. From that point of view,
the ideal of the knighthood as a concept is no memory of a dead past, but while reconnecting us to
our basic origins, it serves as a life-donating renaissance.
